Anytime Fitness membership cost at the clubs we checked

Published rates at the 13 locations we checked; every club sets its own and the pages say rates change with promotions.

Read as a range, the clubs that publish a monthly rate start between $39.95 and $50 a month, with the New York suburbs at the top and the Midwest, Texas and Louisiana at the bottom. One club prices biweekly ($38 at Sonoma, which is about $82 a month), and 12-month agreements run cheaper per month ($35 at Meraux against $45 month to month). None of this is a national average: it is thirteen club pages.

What the monthly rate doesn't include

Three things sit outside the headline. First, a key or activation fee for the 24-hour access fob: Sonoma lists $25, Meraux adds a key fee to its $35 plan without stating it, and several New York clubs waive their joining charge in a "$1 to join" promotion. Second, an enrollment fee at some clubs ($72 at Sonoma; waived on Kaplan's senior plan). Third, tax: Mound's $39.95 and Meraux's $35 are both quoted before tax, and Kaplan quotes its HERO plan both ways ($18.99 biweekly, $39.58 a month with tax).

The terms are local too. Anytime Fitness's own FAQ says every cancellation policy, including the cost to cancel and any termination fee, is in the membership agreement for each location. Read that page before the price page.

Anytime Fitness annual fee

None of the 13 club pages we checked lists an annual fee, and the chain's FAQ doesn't mention one; the recurring extras the clubs do publish are the key fee, the enrollment fee and tax. That is not a promise there isn't one at your club. Because each franchise writes its own agreement, ask for the agreement and search it for "annual" and "maintenance" before you sign, and ask whether the quoted rate is before or after tax.

Cheaper ways in

From the clubs' own pages, in rough order of saving.

  • A 12-month agreement instead of month to month: Meraux lists $35 against $45, Davison's paid-in-full annual plan runs from $45 a month.
  • A discount tier if you qualify: Kaplan's senior plan is $29.99 a month on a 12-month term with the enrollment fee waived, and its HERO plan for first responders and military is $18.99 biweekly.
  • Adding family members rather than buying separate memberships: Price lists additional members at $19.99 biweekly.
  • Joining on a promotion: the New York clubs' "$1 to join" offer removes the joining charge; Sonoma's "$135 to start" bundles the first payment with both fees, so a waived enrollment fee is worth about $72 there.
  • Trying before committing: a day pass is $15 at Germantown and Niles, a week $40 to $45, and Sonoma gives local residents a free day.

Cancelling an Anytime Fitness membership

Your home club, in the form your agreement names, with the notice period it sets (30 days is the common one). There is no chain-wide online cancellation and no app route, and ABC Financial, which processes the payments, cannot end the contract. How to cancel Anytime Fitness has the steps and the state-law exits.

At some clubs. Sonoma, CA lists a $72 enrollment fee plus a $25 key activation fee ("$135 to start" with the first biweekly payment); Meraux, LA adds a key fee to its $35 plan; the New York clubs we checked waive theirs in a "$1 to join" promotion, and Kaplan, LA waives it on its senior plan. The fee is the club's, so ask for it to be waived on a promotion.
