How to Cancel Club Pilates Membership (2026)

Every Club Pilates is a franchise, and the agreement you signed is a state-specific document. Both facts shape the process.

1. Find your state's membership agreement addendum — Club Pilates's own answer on cancellation is to refer to it, or to contact your local studio. The notice period and any early-termination terms are in there.
2. Contact your home studio directly, in writing. Each studio has its own email address, and a written request is what gives you a date to point at.
3. Time it against your invoice date, not your last class. Club Pilates bills membership dues on a monthly cycle, and a request that arrives after the cycle has run pays for another month.
4. If you are mid-commitment, ask what ending it early costs before you send the cancellation — the number is in the addendum and studios can quote it.
5. Consider the freeze instead: up to three months at $35 per month, requested at least 14 days before your next invoice, with medical situations treated as an exception to that deadline.
6. Get written confirmation and check the next invoice.

Not through a national self-service flow. Club Pilates directs cancellation requests to the local studio and to your state's agreement addendum, so in practice the online version of this is an email to your studio from the address on your account.

If you signed up online and you are in New York or California, the state's automatic-renewal law entitles you to cancel through the same channel you joined in, which a franchise's preference does not override.

The freeze terms are published nationally; the cancellation terms are not, and that gap is worth being clear about rather than papering over.

Do not confuse canceling a class booking with canceling the membership. Club Pilates has late-cancel and no-show fees on individual reservations, and they have nothing to do with ending your membership.

Two things decide what a gym has to let you do, and only one of them is settled. The federal rule most people have heard of is not in force: the FTC's click-to-cancel rule, which would have required canceling to be as simple as signing up, was thrown out in full by the Eighth Circuit on July 8, 2025, weeks before compliance was due. The FTC reopened the rulemaking with an advance notice of proposed rulemaking in March 2026 and took comments until April 13, 2026; no replacement rule exists yet. The agency still sues over hard-to-cancel subscriptions under ROSCA and Section 5 of the FTC Act, so this is not a free-for-all — but there is no federal cancel button to point at today.

State law is where the real rights are. In New York, General Business Law § 624 lets you cancel any health-club contract within three business days of signing, with no penalty, and requires every dollar back within ten business days. It also gives you an exit later: a doctor-certified disability lasting more than three months, a move of more than 25 miles from any club the chain operates, or the club no longer providing what it sold you. Death releases the estate. Separately, § 527-a says that if you signed up online, you have to be able to cancel online — that is the law the Attorney General used against Equinox in May 2025.

California runs on the same idea with different numbers: Civil Code § 1812.85 requires a five-day cooling-off period on health-studio contracts, refunds are pro-rated to what you actually used, and the disability, death, and 25-mile relocation outs are all there. Since July 1, 2025, AB 2863 has required businesses to offer cancellation through the same channel you signed up in.

Most other states have their own health-club statute with a similar cooling-off window and similar medical and relocation exits. Look yours up before you accept a no at the front desk. This is general information, not legal advice.

The freeze is the obvious one: three months at $35 beats paying full dues through a period you cannot attend, and it keeps your rate. The other is dropping to a lower class count — most studios sell 4-, 8- and unlimited tiers, and a tier change is not a cancellation.
