How to Cancel EOS Fitness Membership (2026)

Last checked September 7, 2026

EōS Fitness sells month-to-month memberships that require thirty days' notice to cancel — that figure is on EōS's own FAQ and in its published terms. Notice goes to the club you enrolled at, in the form your membership agreement specifies. Give it thirty days before your next dues date, or you pay for one more month before the cancellation takes effect.

Steps to cancel EOS Fitness

The thirty-day rule is the whole shape of this one. Everything else is making sure the notice is delivered in a way EōS records.

  1. Find your dues date and count back thirty days. EōS's notice period runs to the next scheduled dues payment, so a request that lands inside the window pays for one more month.
  2. Read the cancellation clause in your membership agreement. EōS publishes state-specific agreement terms, and that clause is where the accepted delivery methods for your club are set out — typically a signed written notice hand-delivered or mailed to the club you enrolled at, or an email sent from the address on your account to EōS member services.
  3. Deliver the notice in one of those forms, with your name, membership number, and the address on the account. Ask for the effective date back in writing.
  4. If you go in person, do not leave without a copy. A verbal cancellation at a busy front desk is the single most common reason people are still being billed two months later.
  5. Check whether an annual or maintenance fee is due before your cancellation date. That fee follows the anniversary of when you joined, not your monthly cycle, and a cancellation that takes effect after it has been charged does not claw it back.
  6. Cancel personal training separately if you have it — it is its own agreement with its own terms.

Can you cancel EOS Fitness online?

EōS does not advertise a self-service cancel button in its app or member account. What its agreement terms describe is a written notice to your club of enrollment, with an email from the address on file accepted as a written notice — which in practice is the closest thing to canceling online, and it gives you a timestamped record.

If you signed up online and you are in California, AB 2863 requires a cancellation route in the same channel you used to join; New York's § 527-a says the same for online sign-ups. EōS has a large California footprint, so this is a live right rather than a technicality.

Cancellation fees and notice periods

EōS is unusually clear about the notice period and unusually quiet about everything else, which is worth knowing before you plan around a number you read on a forum.

WhatEōS Fitness rule
Membership typeMonth to month
Notice period30 days before the next scheduled dues payment
Where notice goesThe club you enrolled at, in the form your agreement specifies
Written notice by emailAccepted from the email address on your account, per the published agreement terms
Annual or maintenance feeCharged on your join anniversary — a later cancellation does not refund it
Personal trainingA separate agreement; cancel it separately

Because the terms are state-specific, treat your own agreement as the authority if it disagrees with anything here, and ask the club to point at the clause rather than paraphrase it.

Your legal rights

Two things decide what a gym has to let you do, and only one of them is settled. The federal rule most people have heard of is not in force: the FTC's click-to-cancel rule, which would have required canceling to be as simple as signing up, was thrown out in full by the Eighth Circuit on July 8, 2025, weeks before compliance was due. The FTC reopened the rulemaking with an advance notice of proposed rulemaking in March 2026 and took comments until April 13, 2026; no replacement rule exists yet. The agency still sues over hard-to-cancel subscriptions under ROSCA and Section 5 of the FTC Act, so this is not a free-for-all — but there is no federal cancel button to point at today.

State law is where the real rights are. In New York, General Business Law § 624 lets you cancel any health-club contract within three business days of signing, with no penalty, and requires every dollar back within ten business days. It also gives you an exit later: a doctor-certified disability lasting more than three months, a move of more than 25 miles from any club the chain operates, or the club no longer providing what it sold you. Death releases the estate. Separately, § 527-a says that if you signed up online, you have to be able to cancel online — that is the law the Attorney General used against Equinox in May 2025.

California runs on the same idea with different numbers: Civil Code § 1812.85 requires a five-day cooling-off period on health-studio contracts, refunds are pro-rated to what you actually used, and the disability, death, and 25-mile relocation outs are all there. Since July 1, 2025, AB 2863 has required businesses to offer cancellation through the same channel you signed up in.

Most other states have their own health-club statute with a similar cooling-off window and similar medical and relocation exits. Look yours up before you accept a no at the front desk. This is general information, not legal advice.

Cheaper alternatives before you cancel

EōS sells several tiers at the same club, and the gap between the basic and the top tier is usually larger than the gap between EōS and its competitors. Downgrading is a change rather than a cancellation, so it takes effect without the thirty-day wait at most clubs — ask.

If you are leaving because of the price, get the comparison right: we publish what every gym in New York City actually charges, with the signup and annual fees included in an all-in monthly figure.

For a like-for-like on the big-box budget end, compare Planet Fitness, PureGym and Crunch Fitness. If you have been going once a week or less, price day passes against a membership first.

EOS Fitness cancellation FAQ

How much notice does EOS Fitness need to cancel?

Thirty days. EōS's FAQ and published terms both describe memberships as month-to-month with a thirty-day notice required to cancel, counted to your next scheduled dues payment. Give notice inside that window and one more month is drafted before the cancellation takes effect.

Can I cancel EOS Fitness online or by email?

There is no self-service cancel button, but EōS's published agreement terms treat an email sent from the address on your account as written notice, alongside a signed notice hand-delivered or mailed to the club you enrolled at. Email is the version that leaves you a timestamp.

Is there an EOS Fitness cancellation fee?

On a month-to-month membership the cost of leaving is the thirty days of notice, not a fee. If your plan has a minimum term or a prepaid period, the terms in your own agreement govern — read the cancellation clause before you assume.

Does canceling stop the EOS annual fee?

Only if the cancellation takes effect first. The annual or maintenance fee follows the anniversary of when you joined rather than your monthly cycle, so a fee falling inside your thirty-day notice period still gets charged.

Do I have to cancel EOS personal training separately?

Yes. Training packages are a separate agreement from the gym membership, and ending one leaves the other running. Cancel both and get written confirmation of each.
