How Much Is Pilates in 2026?
Last checked September 7, 2026
A single pilates class costs $25–$49 at the 1,229 Club Pilates studios we price across the US, a median of $38. In New York City, across 94 pilates studios, the median drop-in is $36. A 10-class pack brings that to about $37 a class. Unlimited memberships run a median $259 a month nationally and $339 in New York.
How much are pilates classes?
Studios sell pilates three ways, and the price you hear quoted depends entirely on which one someone means: a single drop-in class, a pack of classes you buy up front, or a monthly membership.
Drop-in first, because it's the number people quote. Across the 94 pilates studios we price in New York City, a single group class runs $20–$175, with a median of $36. Nationally it's cheaper: $25–$49 at Club Pilates, median $38.
Packs are where the per-class price actually moves. 37 of the 94 New York studios sell them, and the math on the median sticker is:
- A 5-class pack: $99–$300, median $195 — about $39 a class (31 studios).
- A 10-class pack: $200–$480, median $370 — about $37 a class (34 studios).
- A 20-class pack: $400–$760, median $639 — about $32 a class (23 studios).
So buying twenty classes at once takes about 11% off the drop-in rate. That's the whole discount — there is no tier where pilates becomes cheap.
Memberships are the third door: in New York, unlimited memberships run $99–$399 a month (median $339), while capped plans — usually four or eight classes a month — start at $109 and median $140.
Club Pilates publishes the clearest version of that ladder, and because we price 1,229 of its studios the medians are solid: 4 classes a month for a median $109 ($27 a class), 8 classes a month for a median $199 ($25 a class), or unlimited for a median $259. Unlimited only beats the 8-class tier once you go about 10 times a month. Below that, the capped tiers are the better deal, and the 4-class tier is the one most people should start on.
Reformer vs mat pilates cost
Reformer classes cost more than mat classes, everywhere, and the reason is physical: a reformer class is capped at the number of machines in the room, while a mat class is capped by floor space. Same hour of instruction, a fraction of the students to split it across.
The cleanest evidence is a studio that prices both. PhysioLab sells a 20-class pack of reformer classes at $35 a class and the same-size pack of its non-reformer group classes at $28 — a 27% reformer premium at one address, with the same instructors and the same rent.
Mat sits lower again. Only one studio in our New York data prices mat classes on their own, and it charges $20 a class (BODYHOO Studios), against $37 for a class in a 10-pack at a reformer studio. Mat is also the version most likely to be thrown into a general gym membership at no extra charge, which is why it so rarely carries a price of its own.
Private and duet sessions are a different product again: $49–$125 for one session in New York, median $100, against $36 for a group class. If someone quotes you a three-figure pilates price, they are quoting a private.
Chain studio prices compared
Chain studios publish their rates, which makes them the easiest prices to compare. These are the New York numbers for the pilates chains we track — every one links through to its full price list.
| Studio | Locations | Drop-in | In a pack | Unlimited |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Club Pilates | 33 | — | — | $259–$359/mo |
| solidcore | 18 | — | — | $315–$339/mo |
| BODYROK | 9 | $20–$36 | $34 | $299–$369/mo |
| Avea Pilates | 3 | $33 | $37 | — |
New York City locations. Drop-in is the cheapest single group class; “in a pack” is the median per-class price across the chain's class packs; unlimited is monthly dues.
The studios people price pilates against sit in the same bracket — barre and yoga-sculpt chains selling the same class-pack format: CorePower Yoga $35 in a pack; Physique 57 $44 a class, $39 in a pack, $350/mo unlimited; Bar Method $38 a class, $33 in a pack, $200/mo unlimited.

Is pilates worth the cost?
Twice a week on a 10-class pack is about $296 a month in New York. A plain gym membership here medians $62/mo all-in. So pilates is not a substitute for a gym membership priced like one — it's roughly 5× the cost, and you're buying coached, capped-size classes on equipment you can't get at a $62 gym.
Whether that trade is worth it comes down to one honest question: will you actually go? The capped memberships are priced to punish under-use — a four-class plan you use twice is a very expensive habit. Buy the smallest commitment that matches what you have historically done, not what you intend to do. Almost every studio sells a discounted intro offer; use it before you sign anything monthly.
And do the arithmetic on unlimited before you buy it. At the New York medians, an unlimited membership costs the same as 9 classes from a 10-pack. If you're not going 9 times a month, the pack is cheaper.
Where these numbers come from
Every figure on this page is computed from studio price lists we collect and re-check — not from a survey or an estimate. Ranges and medians take one price per studio, so a chain with dozens of locations can't drag a median toward its own rate card. Prices were last verified September 17, 2026. Class packs and memberships are counted separately because they are different products; a monthly figure never mixes in a pack.
Studios change prices without warning, and a few sell rates only in-studio. Check the studio's own page before you buy — and if you find a price we have wrong, tell us.
Pilates price FAQ
How much is a single pilates class?
Nationally, a single class at Club Pilates runs $25–$49, median $38, and in New York City the median across 94 studios is $36, with a range of $20–$175. Most studios also sell a discounted first-class or intro offer, so your actual first class usually costs less than the sticker.
Why is reformer pilates so expensive?
A reformer class can only hold as many people as there are machines in the room, so the instructor's hour is split across far fewer students than a mat class, on top of the cost of the equipment itself. At PhysioLab, which sells both, reformer classes cost 27% more than the studio's other group classes — same address, same instructors.
Is Club Pilates cheaper than a private studio?
Outside the big cities, clearly — unlimited medians $259 a month across the 1,229 locations we price. In New York that flips: Club Pilates unlimited medians $359 against $339 across all NYC pilates studios, so the chain is the pricier half of the market here. What you trade either way is class size and equipment time: chains run bigger classes than a small private studio.
How much does pilates cost per month?
Club Pilates medians $259 a month for unlimited nationally; New York studios median $339; capped four- and eight-class plans start around $109. If you go twice a week, a class pack is normally cheaper than an unlimited membership, at about $296 a month.
Are pilates class packs cheaper than drop-ins?
Yes, by roughly -3% at the median: $37 a class inside a 10-pack against $36 to walk in once. Bigger packs go further, but check the expiry date before you buy one — most packs expire, and an expired pack is a full-price class you never took.
How much is a private pilates session?
In New York, one-on-one sessions run $49–$125, median $100. Duets — two clients sharing an instructor — normally land between a private and a group class. Packs of privates carry the same bulk discount as class packs.
